The architecture of Orthodox shrines created in the Bulgarian lands - one of the oldest Christian sites in Europe, has been studied by many Bulgarian scholars belonging to different generations and scientific schools. In the edition presented were collected and published the available historical and architectural materials for church buildings constructed since the beginning of the fifteenth to the mid-twentieth century factual material consists of photographic materials and architectural surveys, historical data extracted from various archives and bibliography including different type of publication dealing with issues of church culture, architecture and art. Much of the data are published for the first time, and their authors are largely new discoverer this part of the Bulgarian architectural heritage. The publication is intended for those interested or explore this rich and important part of Bulgarian history, architecture and practicing architects of that today, after a break of half a century trying to restore impaired thread of traditions and establish new churches, the temples of the XXI century.
